DAY 21 - Write about LOVE

Love is helping you out with stuff, when you are just too busy, or you're not feeling up to it. Love is a huge smile, a big warm hug, a kiss on my forehead and wherever else. Love is not letting anyone say anything nasty about you while I'm within range. Because how dare they? Love is letting me cry when I can't hold it in anymore, holding me tight and saying it's going to be okay. Love is not giving up on you. Not writing you off. Hoping that you'll learn, grow and change. Love is respecting my wishes, decisions, and boundaries. Because I'm a human like you too. Love is not comparing you to your mates, because you've had your fair share of life. Love is not saying one condescending word to me. Not ever raising your voice at me. Love is just listening to you talk. Because you don't know how beautiful you sound. Love is just telling you how it is, where it hurts, how it hurts, without having to think about it. Without having to worry about you judging me....

DAY 12 - Favorite TV Series

I dunno... When I was a lot younger, I saw a lot of Nickelodeon series... Icarly, Sam and Cat, Big Time Rush etc. Really loved the lot. But between then and now I haven't really many TV series. I think Suits will count for a TV series. And if it does, then it'll be my favorite. I just love the way the characters' lives are interwoven, the plot twists, the law talk (I've always admired that profession), the drama etc. Each character had its own flaws and mega points, but altogether they were beautiful. And Donna? OMG.  She's gotta be my favorite movie character of the decade. I was really hooked. I just like the way the story was not tied around 'Mike and Rachel', the major stars in the movie. That way, when the Duchess of Sussex left to fulfill her royal duties, the series went on for another two or three seasons at least. It's okay that they dragged out bringing Harvey and Donna together until the very end, even though we all knew from the very beginnin...

DAY 11- Talk About Your Siblings

My parents got lucky. My siblings are some of my blessings I count more than once. Honestly, I imagine my life would have been more grim and dark without them. I have five siblings: three girls, two boys, each different in their own way. I think what I value most about them is our ability to stick together through anything, and how we come through for one another when the need arises. We're not the mushy kind of siblings, but we're there for each other even in ways we don't realize. Last year, when my mom died and I broke up with my fiancΓ© right about that same time, I was so depressed that I stayed off social media for months. Luckily, I was home at that period...and all my siblings were too. Hanging out with them helped me to not fall apart as much as I would have wanted to. Our in-jokes and sense of humour is topnotch. They have their flaws and imperfections, and I disagree with each one of them every once in a while, but they're still the best in the world.

Day 10 - My Best Friend

I don't have one, really. I've never had one. And I've longed for one for the longest of times. I'm the girl who walks alone. Sure, I keep a lot of friends. But I realized, I can only tell how I feel about people.  Not about how people feel about me. So, I could call you my friend, maybe even think we're getting really close, maybe even try to get real real close, and then...boom. You drop the boulder that'll crack my heart open. I really don't do well by emotional heart wrenches, especially those coming from people I love or highly value. It's true I come through it looking all sunny like Jesus just died for me, but I know better than to set myself up for heartaches. I've kidded myself on having a best friend. Twice. The first is still one of my girlfriends today, the other is my ex. These days, I just flow with everyone. Of course, I know to define my boundaries and all, but I don't obsess over having a best friend. Maybe I will, maybe I won...

Day 9 - Write about Happiness

I wake up this bright morning with peace in my heart, and a sunny smile on my face because I had a great night. My little boy is stroking my chin with his tiny fingers...and as I open my eyes he flashes me his wide two-toothed grin. This is like the sweetest feeling in the world I pull him into my bosom and hug him, then I pick him up and head towards the kitchen. My darling husband is there with the girls, as they try so hard to replicate my new sushi recipe. It's Saturday, and everybody is home. Breakfast will soon be ready and... INTERMISSION Everybody has a dream, no matter how tiny. Something you look forward to. Something you long for. Something you wish for. That feeling that comes with having your dreams fulfilled, that's happiness. That feeling of no care for the world, that's happiness. That feeling of contentment, security, and gratitude, that's happiness. That feeling when you care about what the world thinks about you, that's happiness. That feeling whe...

Day 8 - The Power of Music

Music is one is the mysterious things God created... Subtle. Smooth. Fluid. Sometimes, it takes the shape of its container. Other times, it rinses out dirt from its bearer. Sometimes, it leaves its scent behind. Other times, it restores your sense of smell. Music heals. Music gives. Music takes. Music becomes. Music captivates. Music lifts. Music reveals. A tool and a master. God loves music. And so do I.

DAY 7 - Favorite Movie

I'm not a movie person. On a norms. But I enjoy seeing good movies, especially when they have a sharp storyline and unexpected plot twist. (Well, plot twists are usually not unexpected for me, 'cos I have a script writer living in my beautiful head.) I'm more interested in the lines than the graphics, that's why I almost never watch a movie without subtitles. I don't do really long seasonal movies. Anything above 2 seasons is beyond me. (The only exceptions till date is Suits.) I easily get emotionally invested in the screen characters. I check the cast, look them up, see what their "outside the movie" life is like, see them in other settings, their current looks, personal life, feats and flaws etc. See? Considering I never have all the time in the world that I need, I think you'll agree it's best to keep them good, few and far between. Most of the movies I really liked were movie adaptations of books I read, or that had novel adaptations. And they...

DAY 6 - Single and Happy

It's more like single and elated, y'all. Single and grateful. Single and kicking ass. Single and living her dream life. I'm thankful for the chance of being single again. After being in one long turbulent relationship. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm all for relationships. Committed romantic relationships that culminate into marriage. Two God-loving, reasonable, people that love and value each other, working hand in glove to build the life of their dreams. I'm all for it. But you see all these random things people do these days... Two coconut heads that don't know their left from their right, or one good head going for a coconut head in the name of "I love him/She will change", that, sisturr , is suicide. And I don't got a death wish. So till proper love finds me, I'm gonna be sooo busy enjoying and making the best of my single season. 😎😎😎 Kicking ass. Making boss lady moves. Glowing up, every chance I got.  'Cos who's to say otherw...

DAY 5 - Your Parents

My parents are lucky to have each other. That's the best I'll say. They were not this romantic kinda couple that were obviously in love, but they got along pretty well. They argued sometimes, till I got heartsick, but they were back on the same team before anyone realized. My parents have their faults, as everyone else does, but I think their weaknesses kinda suited themselves. Somehow. My mom was a really smart woman. My dad is intelligent. I lost my mom almost 6 months ago, and while I wasn't her favorite child by any means, I realize she is a role model in more ways than one. I mean, we always had all of this head-to head lock-ins because I didn't like my rights trampled on all the time, and she needed me to know she was the boss lady around the house and all. Just kidding. We just had a lot of misunderstandings because we were too very different people, my mom and I.  She probably couldn't understand how a child of hers could be so non-conforming, different, an...

DAY 4 - Places you want to visit

Writing about this is really helpful to me right now...because I get to escape from my immediate reality of handling two huge rejections this month. So, talking about places I'd love to visit... The Bahamas. The Maldives. Chile. Paris. Turkey. Madagascar. Somewhere smooth, exotic and chic. Like Fiji. Somewhere chaotic, overpopulated, and rich in culture. Like Lagos. South Africa. Canada. (I actually kinda wanna live here. Or Maybe the Netherlands.) I'm really not the visiting, traveling, touring kinda person, so I'll keep the list short. But deep down inside this beautiful heart of mine, I just wanna see the world.

DAY 3 - A memory

Third day going and I almost forgot. 😁😁😁 Talking about memories, I have lots of them. Everyone does really. Good memories. Bad memories. The in-betweens. I'm just gonna pull a quick draft and narrate whatever "shareable" memory that comes to mind. (Some things are better left unsaid. Sorry. 😌) So, this one it is. It was a day of the week. Can't remember which one in particular. I was visiting home from school. It was quite late in the evening, and my school was about four hours away from where my parents lived. (Boy did they hate night travels and all.) Now, I really don't like being pressured, you know, especially when I was already tensed up about being on the road very late, and that was exactly what my parents' calling every other 15 minutes to check up on me was going to do. (Phew! That was a long sentence right there. But I'm not about to revise it.) So, I considered it was best for my mental health that I turn my phone off or put it on airplane ...

DAY 1 - Describe your personality.

I rarely talk about myself.  Not because people don't ask. Because sometime I get overwhelmed trying to talk about Cynthia. I can be very chatty, especially with strangers, but most of the time I direct the conversation to the other parties involved. And when they insist I talk about me, I usually say: "I'm just Cynthia. There's nothing special about me." Na lie. I'm one of the most phenomenal women you'll ever meet. It's difficult to describe me at one time because of my ever-dynamic self. I could be wearing this hat today, and tomorrow I decide I want a beret. I too sabi book.  I'm a rapid learner and I read too much. That's how I get in trouble most times.  Tech sis here, I'm currently a UI/UX Designer with coding chops, freelance publication graphic designer, and a blockchain enthusiast.  I love ❤️ Tech.  Resilience and adaptation are my two major life assets,  and my general attitude to life is: "Imma figure this out." And I d...

Writing Challenges?

So, I'm trying to get my writing chops back, and I figured I'd just jump on some writing challenges. I'd probably be doing this all year. All year, because introspection is hard, and I like hard stuff. Probably, because I can be very consistent at being inconsistent. But that's the whole point of doing this on this blog...right here. I figure it might help me want to show up everyday. Who knows? 🀷🏽🀷🏽 I'd like to find out, though. This is the writing challenge right here for the month of MayπŸ‘‡πŸ½πŸ‘‡πŸ½ And I'm committing to being as plain, short and sweet as possible. As most stuff in life aren't. TschΓΌss.
